Senior & Downsizing Movers in Westfield, MA

A calm, unhurried move to a smaller home or a retirement community – we sort, pack, move and set up the new place so it feels like home on day one.

  • Patient crews who work at the client's pace, not the clock's
  • We coordinate with the community's move-in office and elevator schedule
  • Beds made, TVs connected and kitchen unpacked before we leave

A downsizing move is different work. There is less furniture and more deciding. We give it time, keep the client in the loop on every box, and make the new apartment usable the same day – bed made, lamp on, phone within reach.

What we handle on a senior move

  • Sorting help: keep, give to family, donate, discard – four clear piles
  • Packing the “keep” pile and labeling by new-room
  • Removing and donating unwanted furniture, with a receipt for the family
  • Setting up the new home: furniture placed to a floor plan, bed and bath first

How a downsizing move is scheduled

  1. A pre-move visit to measure the new place and build a simple floor plan.
  2. One or two packing sessions in the week before, at an easy pace.
  3. Move day: load, drive, and set up the essentials before dinner.
  4. A follow-up call to place the last few things and answer questions.

Getting started

The first step is a short visit or call to see what is moving and where. Storage helps when the timeline is uncertain – see heated storage – and packing can be as much or as little as needed. Tell us about the move.

Senior & Downsizing Moving FAQ

Can you help decide what to keep?

We help sort into keep, family, donate and discard piles, but the decisions stay with the client and family. We just make the sorting physical and quick.

Do you take away the furniture we're not keeping?

Yes. We remove unwanted pieces, deliver donations to a local charity, and give the family a donation receipt. Disposal of true junk is billed by the load.

Will the new apartment be usable the first night?

That is the goal. Bed made, bathroom set up, a lamp and the TV working, and a clear path through every room before we leave.

How far ahead should the family book?

Two to three weeks is comfortable and lets us do a pre-move visit. Community move-in dates fill fast at the end of the month, so earlier is better.

Can an out-of-town family member manage this by phone?

Yes. We assign one coordinator who handles the plan, the community's paperwork and the day-of updates, with photos sent as we go.
