Piano & Safe Movers in Westfield, MA

Uprights, baby grands, gun safes and single heavy pieces – moved with a piano board, stair-climbing dollies and a crew that has done it before.

  • Purpose-built piano boards, skid boards and stair-climbing dollies
  • Four-person crews for grands, safes over 500 lb and tight staircases
  • Doorways, thresholds and floors protected before the piece moves

A piano or a safe is one item, but it is the item that damages a house. The weight is not the hard part – the turn at the bottom of the stairs is. We send the right crew size, measure the path first, and protect every surface the piece passes.

What we move as a specialty piece

  • Upright and console pianos, spinets, and player pianos
  • Baby grand and grand pianos (legs and lyre removed, body on a skid board)
  • Gun safes and fire safes from 300 to 1,500+ pounds
  • Slate pool tables, large statuary, single oversized appliances

How a piano or safe move runs

  1. We measure doorways, stair width and the turn radius before we quote.
  2. Floor runners, door jamb pads and a ramp go down first.
  3. The piece is strapped to a board or safe dolly and walked, never carried loose.
  4. At the new spot it is set, leveled, and the piano legs are reattached.

Tell us the stairs. A straight run is routine. A winder or a spiral staircase changes the crew, the equipment and the price, so a photo of the turn saves everyone a surprise on the day.

Booking a specialty move

Send the make and model of the piano or the safe's weight and dimensions, plus photos of the path at both ends. This service is often booked alongside a local move or a downsizing move. Get a specialty quote.

Piano & Safe Moving FAQ

Do you tune the piano after the move?

No, and no mover should. Let a piano settle two to four weeks in the new humidity, then have your tuner in. We can recommend one in the Pioneer Valley.

Can you get a grand piano up a narrow staircase?

Usually, with a four-person crew and a skid board. If the turn is too tight we will tell you before booking and price a hoist or a different route.

Is the piano or safe insured while you move it?

Yes, under our valuation coverage. For a high-value instrument we recommend full-value protection, quoted on the item's stated value.

Do you move safes down to a basement?

Yes, with a safe dolly and stair rails. We need to see the stairs and the landing first; open-tread or wooden basement stairs sometimes need reinforcement.

Can you move just the piano and nothing else?

Yes. A stand-alone piano or safe move is a common booking, priced as a single specialty item with a trip charge.
